Values
Access to the environments that engage our curiosity make for the signal moments of our lives. We are at our most alive when we adventure in unfamiliar environments – on a river deep in wilderness; in a community with unfamiliar language, culture and traditions; or on a rope’s course where we are challenged to take risks. While Access opens the door, how we are guided through an experience predisposes us to the most profound learnings of the experience. Excellent guides provide context, containment and permission. They provide a safe space for us to engage our curiosity. At their best, guides work with us to derive from an experience our deepest meaning making.
Mission
We are canvassing leaders in the field of guide work for their perspectives, stories and insights. We hope you will be a part of this conversation. Our aspiration is to field input from a large array of individuals who have something to say about the work of guiding others, and to use that information to promote best practices through blog postings, editorials, and published materials - with a book on the topic of guidecraft to be released in late 2023. Guide trainings and consultancy services will follow.
