Optimizing Access and Engagement

We help individuals and organizations build experiential and expeditionary programming to realize team success, empathy and an ability to communicate across cultural conflict styles

In Consideration of the Guide at Center

The leverage point to creating transformational experiences? Excellent guidework. Salt and Clay views guidework as the nexus of mentorship and management to catalyze transformation in individuals, groups and programs.

Helping the Curious find their Truth

We work with guides, guiding companies and executive teams to develop programming and leadership strategies that empower participants - evincing deeper awareness, and creating more sustainable and more productive group enterprises

Salt and Clay is a project that aspires to research, articulate and develop programs that showcase excellence in guide-work. We are building a community of guides to realize something greater than the sum of our parts. We invite you to join the conversation!

WHAT WE DO

Research & Writing

We are interviewing, synthesizing, reflecting and digging into the best practices of guidecraft. If you are interested in talking with us, let us know! Our goal is to publish a book on guidecraft in fall 2023.

Our name, Salt and Clay, encapsulates our approach to guiding.

In salt, we see an essential ingredient to life.

We are reminded of the taste that forms on our lips after plunging into the sea.

We recall the stains in the creases of our eyes after we’ve thrown ourselves into a hard pursuit.

When we look at raw clay, we see earth, ruddiness, malleability.

In fired clay, we see the touch of a human hand.

We see lines and imperfections; containers and form.

Guidecraft is the nexus of life's signal moments and how we engage them to transform.
